Dear friends of the MGH Ataxia Center and Schmahmann Lab,
The Falmouth Road Race is here again, to be held in-person on August 18th 2024, starting in beautiful Woods Hole and ending in Falmouth Heights, MA. My wife Jinny and I are running again with members of the Ataxia Center, Schmahmann lab and the MINDlink team of runners, to raise funds in support of cerebellum research.
The educational mission of the Ataxia Center is embodied in our bimonthly noon conference program, and I hope that we can count on you to show your support for this work and mission by joining us in our fund-raising drive. Whatever you can donate will help.
The MGH Ataxia Center has grown to 4 full time faculty, a dedicated Ataxia Fellow, and 5 Fellows rotating from other departments. We are a Center of Excellence of the National Ataxia Foundation and the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, a leading site in the National Ataxia Foundation’s natural history study of ataxia, and in the Ataxia Global Initiative, the international consortium dedicated to finding treatments and cures for the ataxias. A big development this year was the establishment at MGH of the Martha and Robert Fogelman Endowed Chair in Ataxia and Cerebellar Neurology. I was greatly honored to be named the inaugural incumbent of this new Chair that will foster the field of cerebellar neurology at the MGH in perpetuity. The many advances this past year have been focused on providing the highest level of care to our patients dealing with ataxia and related disorders of the cerebellum.
